Corona proof salsa dancing! (2021)
I graduated as a fashion and costume designer, but I have a very big passion for dance, mainly social dancing. I used to go to salsa parties until the coronavirus changed my life. Therefore I searched for alternatives and discovered zoom parties.
This project was created as a response to a paper that I wrote about these zoom parties. My conclusion from this paper was that I would rather dance with someone in real life, wearing a plastic protection suit, then dancing together in the virtual world, where close contact, touch and eye contact are completely absent.
I documented the dance with this video to archive the surrealness of this crazy time (2020/2021). It’s a document for memory and awareness.
